Local Attractions Padstow is an attractive fishing port on the Camel estuary, on the Cornish north coast, famous for both its annual 'Obby 'Oss festival on May Day, and Rick Stein's restaurants. The town is the end point of the Camel Trail cycling route, which runs inland to Bodmin and Bodmin Moor, along the old railway track. Cycles can be hired on the quay. Close by are several safe sandy beaches for family fun and surfers. The South West Coastal Path follows the coast from Polzeath to Rock where the foot ferry connects with the next section from Padstow to Newquay. The ferry operates on a continuous basis until early evening and then during the holiday season a water taxi takes over until midnight. There are pleasure boat trips and fishing trips from the harbour. For golfers there are the Championship Links at Trevose and St Enodoc. Historic Prideaux Place, the Elizabethan home of the Prideaux-Brune family is open to the public. At Rock, there is a sailing school, water ski school and sailing club. |
